Video Review: How a Book Cover is Designed with Lauren Panepinto (Muddy Colors)

In this release by Muddy Colors: "Watch Lauren Panepinto, Creative Director of Orbit Books, design a book cover from scratch while talking us through the entire process from brief to final.

While Muddy Colors usually focuses on book covers utilizing a freelance illustrator, this demo will show the other half of book covers – ones fully designed in house using designer-created and/or found imagery.

Much of the overall process is the same, however, if you want to be an illustrator that works on book covers, this demo will offer behind the scenes insight into a process most folks outside publishing don’t get to see.

This video begins with a lecture on the publishing process, and concludes with a real-time demo of Lauren designing a cover."

Lauren Panepinto is the Art Director of Orbit books, one of the best Sci-Fi and Fantasy publisher of the UK and USA.

In this video Lauren shares her personal workflow in detail, giving very insightful hints for both designers and illustrators, while she designs three sci-fi book covers from scratch.

If you aim to work as a book cover designer or illustrator this video is a "must have"!
